Ephemeral Distance |
I try to find the star matted road covered by dust and time Picking up the scraps of chiseled stones that once defended our walls And now everything's so barren, worn down by the years of battle Where were we during those times and where are we now? Surrounded by a blur; the points no longer connected Yet I still want to feel the warmth of the open fields How everything is perfectly tiled into the amber stones Where the sounds of swords and arrows have ceased into harmony Let us meet before the tides take us apart We can share our last secrets, close our eyes, and begin a journey anew The docks are empty while I find my chosen vessel My eyes gazing upon the rivers pouring into the blue abyss as I tremble from the cold My body flails as I reluctantly detach our rope of emotion I realize the warmth no longer lies in front of me Yet behind me with a million words, words I will no longer hear from you Will the peak of your heart ever find wings again? Will I ever entrust my dagger to another warrior's fleet? Drifting and meandering, our souls gravitated apart And how often must these illusions alter our destinations Amplifying our trampled defenses, shaken and stripped to its core Yet I still want to feel the warmth of the open fields How everything is perfectly tiled into the amber stones Where the sounds of swords and arrows have ceased into harmony Let us meet before the tides take us apart We can share our last secrets, close our eyes, and begin a journey anew |
